P’Harcourt Refinery’s crude oil terminals undergoe rehabilitation

African Refinery Group (ARG), a midstream oil and gas company in Nigeria, has commenced the revamping of the Bonny Export Terminal (BET) facilities located in the Port Harcourt Refinery.

Bonny Export Terminal (BET) comprises the onshore facilities adjourning the Port Harcourt Refining Company, a Nigerian oil and gas company that refines crude oil into petroleum products; the offshore export platform and the inactive interconnecting pipeline system commissioned in 2000.

According to the company, ARG is one of the four companies granted Concessions under a Public Private Partnership with NNPCL to operate several of its downstream supply and distribution facilities which includes the BET

It had previously implemented a revamped programme for PHRC Loading Terminal in time for the restoration of production and the resumption of crude oil processing at the Port Harcourt Refinery on November 26, 2024.

“This marks the second downstream facility within the Port Harcourt Refinery that the company will be revamping under the 17-year Concession Agreement with NNPCL signed on the 9th of July 2024,” the company said.

It added that the announcement of the commencement of the revamp, is in fulfillment of its contractual obligations to NNPCL under the Concession Agreement to turn around BET, expand Port Harcourt refinery’s Crude Oil Import and Export operational capacity, create additional revenue streams for NNPCL and prevent economic loss to the nation.
